Fresh Friday Five #013: TYA, The Paddy Cakes, Chrystal

This week’s Fresh Friday Five features perfect production from Deno, Brisbane indie rock from TYA, Gippsland local heroes The Paddy Cakes, Perth powerhouse Chelsea Cullen and urban grooves from UK based Chrystal.

Deno (Victoria)

From the Victorian bushland comes electronic producer Deno. His slick beats and effortless production are influenced by the nature of his West Victorian home, with sleek beats, and minimalistic yet intricate production.

Not just a producer, Deno lends his own vocals to many of his songs, which adds intensity to his sound with deeply personal lyrics, especially on his track “Slowing”. His socials have been hinting at a live show announcement soon, so keep an eye out for what must be a captivating show.

TYA (Brisbane)

Previously under the name The Young Art, this Far North Queensland based group found success quite young releasing an album and supporting the like of the Jungle Giants, Eskimo Joe and Ball Park Music.

Now branded as TYA, and based in Brisbane, the group has evolved both as individuals and through their music. Their new sound is more emotionally charged indie, think Hippo Campus meets The 1975.

The Paddy Cakes (Gippsland)

Gippsland, Victoria based indie rockers The Paddy Cakes have gained a significant local following since forming in 2016.

Known for playing intimate shows and private gigs, the boys have developed a distinct sound which have attracted a hefty fan base online.

Chelsea Cullen (Perth)

Singer songwriter Chelsea Cullen is one of the most promising rising artists in the Perth music scene. Her powerhouse voice coupled with soaring, emotional ballads make for a energising performance.

By blending soul with modern pop, Chelsea has created a unique sound that is instantly recognisable.

Chrystal (UK)

Bolton, UK based singer/producer Chrystal is making the nostalgia infused R&B you never knew you needed.

Her sleek vocals and danceable grooves perfectly capture the feeling of reminiscing and laughing with friends, and Chrystal’s  tracks invite the listener to feel this with her.
