Festival Destinations: Primavera Sound – May & June 2018

There’s no denying that the 18th edition of Primavera Sound is going to be one to remember. If you’ve had the chance to suss out their signature line-up, you’ll know it features huge artists who are set to bring their insane live sets to Barcelona this May and June; and if you haven’t yet, head over to the official website here to make sure you don’t miss out on any of your faves!

After securing an impressive list of talented artists and a massive array of headliners, including Bjork, Fever Ray, Lorde, and The National, it has become one of the most eagerly anticipated festivals in recent years, making it high on our list of destination festivals in 2018. Countless hours have gone in building Primavera Sound’s stellar line-up and is one that features a huge variety of genres that anyone can get around – whether it’s hip-hop, trap, rock,  or pop that you’re after – Primavera has it all.

If by some chance you’re still on the fence as to whether you should experience Primavera at its finest in 2018, lets take a look at some of the artists that we are most excited about.

The Kite String Tangle

Kicking things off – lets start with the electronic/alternative artist and producer from Brisbane – The Kite String Tangle. This artist took us by storm with his singing, songwriting, and producing in his single, “Given The Chance”, which reached gold status in Australia. He has been gaining tremendous momentum since, earning a spot within the Australian industry as one of our most beloved performers; nailing sold out national shows and several festival appearances including Groovin’ The Moo, Splendour in the Grass, and Falls Festival. Outside of the Aussie spectrum he’s been making headlines in the UK, Japan, and North America. Have a suss of his music here to check out some more of his incredible tracks before seeing his live set at Primavera.

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

Up next is the Melbourne based, indie rockers Rolling Blackouts C.F. These guys made their debut in 2013, though they started making headlines in 2016 after the release of their first EP Talk Tight. Their follow up EP, The French Press, came soon after in 2017, which helped secure their spot on the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival line-up in 2018, where we’re all eagerly anticipated a huge live performance. They are somehow finding the time in between touring the U.K, the U.S, and performing at Coachella, to release a full-length album later this year. We can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store for us at Primavera, but before you see them live head over to their SoundCloud to hear their other amazing tracks.

 Slowdive

It was announced in late January that Slowdive will be returning to Primavera for the first time since 2014, and we couldn’t be more psyched to see what they’ll bring for their live set. There’s no doubt that you’ve probably already heard of these guys, but on the odd chance you haven’t – the widely renowned and respected band from England have already been making headlines in 2018 with countless live tours throughout Europe and the U.S, and several festival appearances including at Laneway Festival all around Australia and now Primavera too – but before that be sure to check out their latest album on their Spotify!

Arctic Monkeys

2018 is going to be a huge year for these guys. Arctic Monkeys are set to make several festival appearances. They are being welcomed with open arms by Primavera as they are being regarded as one of the most anticipated headlining performances at this year’s festival. This leads their comeback tour after taking a four year hiatus, where they’ll be returning with a sixth record. They’ll be performing on the last day of the festival, sending it out with a banger live performance, audience members and long time fans can’t wait for. While this in their first gig in a number of years, their sound remains as one of the best, and one everyone can appreciate – so check out their Spotify before heading down to Primavera to see them live!

  Lorde

We’ve all heard of this singer, song writer, and record producer from New Zealand. While only being 21, she has taken the world by storm and made waves in the music industry after the release of her hugely successful debut album Pure Heroine in 2013. Since then she has had the world at her feet winning multiple Grammy’s for Best Song of the Year and Best Live Performance in 2014, and receiving a nomination for her second album Melodrama for Album of the Year in 2018. This, plus her countless sell out live tours around the globe shows she’s no stranger to live shows, and we have no doubt that her performance at Primavera will be incredible.

Primavera Sound runs from May 30th through until June 3rd. For more information, visit their website, here.
