12 gigs you can’t miss in November around Australia

As the end of 2017 draws ever closer, the Australian live music calendar continues to thrive confidently. A jam packed two months of shows lay ahead from our favourite locals and visitors, check out just a selection of them below.

Marlon Williams 

Come November, Marlon Williams will play his first headline tour in over a year in support of new single “Vampire Again”. After supporting gigs with legend Bruce Springsteen and playing festivals across Europe and North America, Marlon Williams is bringing tracks from both his ARIA nominated debut and his sophomore album (due early 2018) to Aussie shores.

Lorde

Lorde is back on Australian shores this month with her Melodrama headline tour. The critically acclaimed second album from the New Zealand pop star shows her at her most raw and vulnerable yet, and music overs won’t want to miss one of the world’s most talented performers.

Kingswood

Melbourne rockers Kingswood are playing their last headline shows for the year this month before bunkering down to record their next album. Fans are in for a diverse night of music at a Kingswood gig, who are sure to bring their token big riffs balanced with the more soulful tracks of their sophomore album.

Something For Kate

After a lengthy hiatus in which frontman Paul Dempsey concentrated on solo efforts, Melbourne rockers Something For Kate are back with their first club tour in four years. Album seven is still without a release date, but expect to hear some new material as well as the classics.

The Plot

The Plot music festival in Parramatta Park is known for showcasing Australia’s best emerging talent, with artists such as Tash Sultana and Amy Shark playing early sets last year before reaching widespread acclaim. This year is no different, with Confidence Man, Northeast Party House, Bec Sandridge, and heaps more playing this year.

2016 was a massive year for Bec Sandridge, playing a slew of festivals and support shows across the country, and with tracks “You’re A Fucking Joke” and “In the Fog, In the Flame” getting a ton of airtime on Triple J. This year Bec is back with a headline tour in support of her new single “I’ll Never Want a BF”, a celebration of queer identity.

Midnight Oil

Legendary Australian rockers Midnight Oil are bringing their massive world tour back home for 18 dates across Australia. Known for their controversial and catchy protests songs, the Oils are bringing the best of Australian talent long for the tour, so concert goers are in for a great night of distinctly Australian music.

Washington 

Coming off a mesmerising run with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Opera House, Washington is back for a few remaining shows for 2017, bringing her signature indie-jazz-pop to audiences sans orchestra. Expect to here some cuts off her unreleased new album as well as the classics.

Back for a second time is the Oxford Art Factory’s drug and alcohol free, all ages event, XraySpeX, this year headlined by Brisbane psychedelic rockers The Belligerents and featuring Jack River, The Bleeding Knees Club, and tons more.

Ziggy Alberts

Returning home from his European headline tour, Byron Bay folk singer-songwriter Ziggy Alberts is touring Australian capital cities in support of new single “Heaven”. This That

Newcastle’s premier music festival This That return this month with a stellar lineup including Alison Wonderland, The Preatures, Tash Sultana and tons more. This festival is loved by the locals and known for showcasing the best music and food of the coastal city, making it well worth the trip.
